This Week in Grade One
Monday October 14th Thanksgiving
These are the 2 Thanksgiving songs we sang at school last week. I hope that your child sang the first one to you. The second one has a tricky tune but the words are cute.
We are thankful, we are thankful,
On this day, on this day.
For so many good things, for so many good things,
That we have, that we have.
We are thankful for the food we eat.
We are thankful for our friends.
We are thankful for our family,
For fun the never ends.
We are thankful for the clean fresh air,
For water pure and clear.
But most of all we're thankful for
Another day off school.
Wednesday October 16th Newstelling is due.
Friday October 18th Pizza Party (2nd break)
We won a pizza party at Municipal Works Day. We are so very lucky!!!
Miss Garner's last day for this practice teaching block. She will be back in
November for 3 weeks. We will miss you Miss Garner.
Scholastic book orders are due.
The Daily Five
We are doing so well with our reading. We will be starting 7 minutes of continuous reading this week. Our brains are getting so strong as we continue to build our stamina. We have started "READ TO SOMEONE".
To be successful at Read to Someone, students need to demonstrate the following:
(We call this The Success Criteria)
- Sit in EEKK
- Use a quiet voice.
- Read the whole time.
- Get started right away.
Keep reading at home!!!! The children are working on independently switching their books as part of our morning routine. If you are not getting new books, please let me know.
Beautiful Fall Leaves!
