We had a wonderful Remembrance Day ceremony. This is our wreath.
We are learning that reading is thinking.
To show this, I made a reading salad. I read a book to class. Every time I was reading I put some lettuce (green paper) in the salad. Every time I was thinking, I put a tomato(red paper) into the salad. There is just as much lettuce at tomato in the reading salad. We think before, during, and after reading.
We use our schema.
Our schema is all of the information stored in our brain.
Our schema helps us make meaning and understand what we read.
We put together what we read with our schema to make meaning.
Good readers activate their schema before, during and after reading.
