We have some new class pets.
You can not see them but they are swimming around in this little tank.
Our Inquiry
Bucket Filling
To help promote character
education in our classroom, we read the book, Have You Filled A Bucket
Today? This book helps promote positive feelings and attitudes towards
ourselves and others. In a new twist on the Golden Rule. Have
You Filled a Bucket Today? explains to children that we all
carry an invisible bucket in which we keep our feelings about ourselves. When
our buckets are full, we are happy, when they are empty, we are sad. It’s
important to know that we can fill our own bucket and so can others. A bucket filler is someone who says or does
nice things for other people. By doing
this, they are filling other people’s buckets and filling their own bucket at
the same time. On the other hand, a
bucket dipper says or does mean things to cause other people to feel bad. A bucket dipper empties other people’s
buckets and their own bucket when they say and do mean things. After we read the book we listed ways to fill other people’s bucket and made our own book about how to fill a bucket.
