We have been working on writing a recount.   A recount retells a past event.  The aim  is to inform or entertain the reader. 

A recount starts by setting the scene.

Where

This is followed by a series of events, in the order that they happened. 

We use the words; First, Next, Then, Finally.

 

 

We conclude a recount with a sentence stating out feelings.

 

 

 

Example of a Recount

On Saturday Febrruary 22nd, I went to school for the Olympic Winter Wonderland.  When I first arrived, I got a gold medal.  Next I saw some of my grade one friends.  Then I made a torch out of a paper towel tube and some tissue paper.  Finally I had my picture taken on the medal podium.  It was a great time and I love my gold medal!
